On October 21, CEA Key Laboratory of Building Damage Mechanism and Prevention was approved to establish. This is the tenth key lab administered by CEA. It marks a new step in the construction of scientific research and innovation platform in our university.
The theme of the lab is “Building Collapse Mechanism and Prevention in Earthquakes”. With field investigation and theoretical research and application, we have formed three distinctive research directions: building seismic failure mode and collapse mechanism, engineering structure seismic mitigation and isolation technology, strong ground motion prediction and site failure mechanism. Led by Professor Guo Xun, head of School of Civil Engineering, the key laboratory is jointly constructed with School of Geological Engineering.
