Recently, School of Foreign Languages of IDP has sent four young backbone teachers, including Li Haiyan, Liu Walu, Zhu Jie and Wang Weiwei, to participate in the research program at Reading University. During the three-week intensive study, the four teachers actively communicated with their counterparts at home and abroad to exchange the theory and practice of English teaching, and had a deeper understanding of the relevant theories.
Four experts from the University of Reading, UK, senior trainers Sebastian Watkins, Patrick Andrews, Rodney Jones and Associate Professor Colin Campbell, co-chaired the course. The course focuses on EAP curriculum and teaching methods, runs through the cultivation of critical thinking ability and cross-cultural communication ability, and integrates the frontier theories and research results of second language acquisition. The teaching methods of the seminar are rich and diverse, including centralized teaching, group or peer discussion, classroom video observation, group cooperation, etc. the interesting and substantial learning experience provides new inspiration and ideas for the teaching mode and broadens the teachers' vision.
The project titled "2018 young and middle-aged Key Teachers' research project in the UK" is jointly organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and School of International Education and Language, University of Reading. The project is tailor-made for young and middle-aged foreign language teachers in Chinese universities. It aims to help Chinese universities broaden international exchanges and cooperation, promote inter school understanding, improve teachers' teaching ability, and expand their international vision.
